Samuel Lopez's Showcase Page
There are many projects and assignments that I feel very proud of. The many courses of the MAET Program at Michigan State University provided me with the challenge to create works of art. From creating a Weebly website, a unit in Haiku course management system, a Prezi presentation, or a StAIR (Stand Alone Instructional resource); I feel I have designed something useful and effective. It has given me the knowledge to apply technology to my pedagogy and implement them into my curriculum. Best of all, I have learned to provide my students with a more positive learning experience and environment. I hope you enjoy the following projects which show off my technological skills. (Click on the pictures for the links)
Prezi
Learning about Prezi for me was like Columbus discovering America. It is a tool that provides more life, interaction, creativity, and individuality to any presentation. Here is a Prezi presentation about John Hattie's six factors of influence on student achievement. It has a description of each of the factors and also which technologies have an impact on student achievement.

Weebly
One of my favorite webpage making tools is Weebly. It makes the job a lot easier and has great templates for every occasion. It is also easy to edit and add pages as needed. The Weebly below was created as a resource tool which students can use during the unit of Animal Physiology. The webpages contain lots of graphic, virtual dissection, and information about animal parts and functions.

StAIR Project
A StAIR (Stand Alone Instructional Resource) is design to enhance comprehension of content. It is highly interactive and can be created using PowerPoint. I created one for the Biochemistry Unit. It was used to guide the student to terms and concepts covered throughout the unit. It has lots of visual support and formative assessments which students can use to measure comprehension.

Haiku
I used Haiku Learning to create my first online course unit. It gave me an insight in designing something that can be easily accessible by our students. I also used the NEA Guide to Online High School Courses as a rubric. A big part of the assignment was also to concentrate on making sure the course contained meaningful support material and assessment to enhance comprehension.

WPP
WPP (Wicked Problem Project) used different forms of technology. First we needed to come up with a "problem" which our students faced in trying to learn a major concept. I chose Photosynthesis. Then we used a technology tool that we hoped would clear misconceptions. The project was recorded and edited using iMovie and the final product was uploaded online using YouTube.

Audio Production
Where do humans come from? Who were our ancestors? Do humans come from monkeys?. These were a few questions asked in this audio production created and edited using Audacity. The idea was to investigate and measure prevalent misconceptions from students about topics in Biology. As an assignment this was meaningful because it gave me insight as to what our students were understanding.
